The Peloton Strive Score is a newest personal metric to help evaluate your effort during each class. The Strive Score is based entirely on how long you spend in each heart rate zone. Since your heart rate zones are based on your max heart rate (MHR), it’s in your best interest to have the most accurate estimation of your MHR in your profile settings. While Peloton gives you an estimated max heart rate based on your age, it can be very inaccurate. So here are a few methods that you can use to get a more accurate MHR to set more accurate heart rate zones.

Peloton temporarily closing strength studio for ‘some new and exciting things’

In a private post to members on social media, Peloton has announced it will be temporarily shutting down its strength studio to work on “some new and exciting things.” The closure is currently scheduled to run from May 27 to June 13, although new strength classes will still be released on demand in addition to scheduled encore classes.

Echelon riders’ account data exposed through a leaky API

Echelon is facing the same problem Peloton recently had over rider data being exposed through its API, which wasn’t properly secured. Jan Masters, a security researcher at Pen Test Partners, discovered that Echelon’s API allowed access to the account data of its riders. The data exposed included name, city, age, sex, phone number, weight, birthday, and workout statistics, and history of any other member in a live or on-demand class. The API also included some information about Echelon customers’ workout equipment including serial numbers.

Is Peloton headed to France next?

During a town hall today hosted by Club Industry, the new GM of Peloton Commercial (and CEO at Precor, which Peloton now owns), Rob Barker, briefly mentioned that French language classes were on their way to Peloton. No timeline or other details were provided, but given the company’s international growth goals and upcoming entry into Australia, is Peloton headed to France next?
