We reported last week that Peloton users were experiencing technical difficulties following a recent app update, and now Peloton has released a timeline of when they plan on fixing the two technological bugs on the Bike and the Tread. Head below for more details.
After a recent Peloton app update, some owners of the Peloton Bike/Bike+ and the Peloton Tread noticed some strange glitches.
For some Bike/Bike+ users, there has been an issue with the Bike’s resistance, where slight adjustments using the resistance knob “caused the resistance to jump or drop dramatically,” making it difficult to adjust appropriately during a workout. For some Tread users, their Tread screens wouldn’t stay asleep – after turning them off, the screen will go dark as it’s meant to, and then turn back on.
Initially, Peloton’s response to the Bike bug was to “share the information” with the Peloton support team, and for Tread users, to perform a factory reset.
It seems Peloton got the message, as there are now official incident reports listed on the Peloton status channel as of December 15.
Interestingly, Peloton only lists “V1” Bikes, even though Bike+ owners have also experienced the resistance knob problem. If these incident reports are to be believed, it means that the Bike bug should be resolved by today, December 18, whereas the Tread touch screen issue is meant to be hopefully resolved by early January 2024. Until then, Peloton suggests to Tread users to simply turn off the Tread by using the switch on the bottom of the unit “as a workaround.”
As Pelo Buddy reports, “Based on social media comments over the past few days, these issues appear to be far-reaching and affecting many members.” We’ll be interested to see if Peloton follows through on their self-imposed timeline.
