Peloton sells Output Park to First Solar for a whopping $33 million

$33 million to First Solar. Peloton never finished the construction on the facility, and now it will be utilized for job growth in Northwest Ohio. Head below for more details.

In May 2021, Peloton announced Peloton Output Park, but delays in finalizing construction quickly followed, and in 2022, Peloton announced they’d be closing Output Park’s doors.

Peloton purchased the land on which Peloton Output Park would be built for $6.2 million, and construction was only partially completed when Peloton decided to shut it down. Initially, Peloton Output Park was meant to be a factory for the company, bringing thousands of jobs to Wood County, Ohio – it would have been Peloton’s first US-based factory before finally closing down in 2022.

About three months ago, Pelo Buddy reported that Peloton was still in search of a buyer for Output Park. At the time, Peloton CEO Barry McCarthy said that the sale of Output Park was an important part of Peloton’s restructuring – something the company had been undergoing since 2022.

Now, Peloton has sold Output Park to Arizona-based First Solar for $33 million, and Ohio is happy for the purchase. Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine:

First Solar’s purchase of the Peloton building is an excellent sign that one of Northwest Ohio’s strongest employers will continue its growth in Ohio. The Troy Township, Ohio site was purpose-built for the latest manufacturing, and First Solar’s decision to utilize the 1.2 million square foot space and add good-paying jobs is a great next step for this site in Wood County.

With Peloton Output Park now sold to First Solar, Ohioans will be given the chance to actually utilize the space that has been left unfinished and unopened since construction began.
