Hydrow to increase membership prices in January for legacy members

Connected rowing company, Hydrow, yesterday announced that they will be increasing their membership prices to $44/month starting in January for legacy members. Head below for more details.

Increase for all members

According to a Facebook post from Hydrow’s CEO, the company will be increasing the price of its membership to $44/month for legacy members who were initially paying $38/month, a price that had remained unchanged for its existing members for the last five years. Hydrow’s CEO, Bruce Smith:

Since Hydrow’s launch in 2019, we’ve been on an incredible journey, adding more destinations, workout content, modalities, and features to help you meet your health and fitness goals.

We know this impacts our longtime membres who joined our crew befor our current pricing, and we’re grateful for your loyalty and undestanding.

The Facebook post goes on to say that anyone who subscribed to become a Hydrow member before January 17 of 2023 will be impacted by the price hike, and that the Hydrow team “remains dedicated to bringing the best whole-health experience and value to our incredible members.”

Why the price hike?

To dig into some details, Hydrow is increasing its price because the price of… well, everything.. has gone up. Per an FAQ page on the price hike, Hydrow notes:

Over the last fie years our costs to deliver the excellent experiences you’ve come to love and expect have increased, just like everything else in our world.

The company then goes on to list its accomplishments as well as improvements, which include new workout styles and modalities, over 5,000 total workouts in their library, recorded workouts in over 100 cities worldwide, and more.

For an already expensive machine, $44 does seem awfully high for a monthly rate, but anyone who can afford a Hydrow Rower to begin with likely won’t be affected by the increase.
