Peloton has added a brand new strength-training program to its ever-expanding library called the “Seated Adaptive Transfer Program.” Designed to help those navigating the world via wheelchair, the Seated Adaptive Transfer Program is now available on-demand. Head below for more details.
Led by Logan Albridge, the one-week Seated Adaptive Transfer Program is designed around how to transfer in and out of a wheelchair and includes full workouts, mediations, and features Tom Miazga, a 2008 Paralympics competitor. This is a first for Peloton, as Tom Miazga is not a full-time instructor, but he is being featured in Peloton’s Seated Adaptive Transfer Program. Miazga is also the six-time “Fittest Seated on Earth” CrossFitter champion and earned the CrossFit title of “Fittest One-Armed Man on Earth.”
There is a lot to love about Peloton’s wheelchair-accessible strength-training program, including the specifics of the program itself. According to Pelo Buddy:
He [Tom] notes that there will be lots of movements & variations, with many equipment options as well – and some classes will be using dumbbells. Tom went on to note that the goal of the program is to truly increase the quality of life & independence for all seated athletes.
The full class description of the Seated Adaptive Transfer Program is as follows: “Logan is joined by Paralympian & seated adaptive athlete, Tom Miazga, to reveal safe and effective wheelchair transfer techniques for seated athletes of varying levels.”
Connect the Watts’ Take
Just yesterday, Peloton debuted a new class in honor of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which took place on Sunday, December 3. We love all things accessibility-related here at Connect the Watts, and Peloton’s Seated Adaptive Transfer Program is a great example of Peloton working toward being as inclusive as it can be for all athletes.
