Soon to be released, the Peloton Guide may no longer include a heart rate monitor

Peloton’s upcoming strength device, the Peloton Guide, is currently scheduled to be released on April 5. All of Peloton’s marketing material for the Peloton Guide has mentioned that Peloton’s new heart rate monitor will be included.

That is no longer the case.

This morning, Pelobuddy noticed a small, but important change to the Peloton Guide landing page. The image on this page showing the Peloton Guide, heart rate band, and dumbbell previously included a disclaimer that reads “weights sold separately”.

Now, that disclaimer reads “weights and heart rate monitor sold separately”. This implies that the Peloton heart rate monitor will no longer be included with the Guide.

This could be good news or bad news, depending on what this means for the Peloton Guide’s cost.

If Peloton lowers the cost to $395, that would be great news, especially considering many have recently purchased the new Peloton heart rate monitor for $90. Additionally, with Peloton’s new update allowing Apple Watches to connect to their devices, many would likely rather save the money than be forced to purchase an additional heart rate band.

Of course, Peloton could end up keeping the current price of $495 and just no longer include the heart rate monitor – this would obviously be bad news, given Peloton community’s low enthusiasm for a product which seems to just be a camera with minimal features.

No word from Peloton so far. Though, with the release date around the corner, we are likely not far away from a new update or announcement.
