Peloton Rower almost here?? Here’s the scoop on Peloton’s next 5 products!

There has been a lot of talk lately about the Peloton rower and several other products on the way. Today, we are going to take a look at Peloton’s five new upcoming products – everything we know about them, their likely price points, and when we can expect them to be released.

Peloton Rower

We are going to start off with a device that has been rumored for years now – the Peloton Rower. Peloton has been working on this for a while now, and it is no secret. Peloton has even posted job reports about it and discussed it in interviews. Most recently, my colleagues at 9to5Google decrypted some of the code and found that there were new updates in terms of instructions for rowing, stat tracking, and scenic rowing rides. Higher-end connected fitness rowers, like Ergatta and Hydrow, tend to be around $2,000, so that is about the price we should expect when Peloton releases its own.

In terms of when the rower will be available, I’m not so sure it’s going to be any time soon. Even though the device may have been ready for quite a while, this just does not seem like a good time for Peloton to release one. It seems like the company’s main focus right now is on marketing the new Peloton Tread. Peloton has discussed how important it is for the company to break into the treadmill market, as it will be able to reach lot more houses than just a bike. A rower, even though there is a lot of interest, has a much smaller market than a treadmill.

Peloton has also brought on about ten new Tread coaches in the past month, and I doubt the company would want to shift the attention over to a rower – especially considering the current supply and shipping issues all over the globe. A lot of companies are starting to dial back their marketing in terms of what products are going to be available this holiday season because they do not want to disappoint their customers.

Last year, Peloton disappointed a lot of people with absurdly long shipping times and certainly doesn’t want that to happen again. Peloton will likely be a bit more restrictive in terms of its releases until there are fewer supply issues.

Peloton Tread Plus

We are still waiting on is the re-release of the Peloton Tread Plus. The Tread Plus and the Tread were recalled earlier this year for different reasons. While the Peloton Tread is available again, we are still waiting for the Peloton Tread Plus.

The issue with the Peloton Tread was fairly straightforward, as it was just an issue of connecting the screen to the treadmill so that it would not shake or fall off while you were running on it. With the Tread Plus, the issue was more severe. There were tons of reports of kids getting injured, and unfortunately, one kid was killed earlier this year. There are still a lot more design changes that have to be made in order for the Tread Plus to be ready for re-release. Not only do the changes have to be made, but they also need to be safety-approved, and that approval process can take quite a while.

While no one really knows exactly where Peloton is in this timeline, I think most people can agree that the chances of it coming out in 2021 are very slim. The product will most likely return in early-to-mid 2022.

Peloton Heart Rate Armband

Next up is the new Peloton heart rate armband. Peloton already sells a heart rate band, but most people who order it realize it is not good. Earlier this year, one of the acquisitions Peloton made was Atlas wearables, which produced smart fitness trackers. These fitness trackers tracked not only tracked your heart rate but also counted your reps for various movements.

Around the same time this year, Peloton also started cutting back on some of its Apple Watch support. This made it impossible to use your Apple Watch on the Peloton Bike+ for any classes outside of just cycling. After that, Peloton released the brand new Strive Score – a measurement based on your heart rate data that determines how hard you are working. Finally, Bloomberg released a report in June pretty much confirming everything. They dug into the code on an update for the app and found tons of information around the heart rate armband – including pictures and instructions on how to wear it. Nothing in the Bloomberg report suggested that the heart rate armband would do anything other than track your heart rate.

In terms of price, I would expect it to be around $100. It’s hard to determine when it will be released, but it could be any time. Peloton now has two big manufacturing plants in the US from its acquisition of Precor earlier this year. Those factories are likely up and running – now making Peloton products. I suspect we will be seeing the Peloton heart rate armband relatively soon.

Peloton Guide

The next Peloton product that could be coming soon is the Peloton Guide – a 3D camera that can be used with your TV, or possibly your Peloton Bike screen, to help you monitor your form in off-the-bike classes like yoga or strength. This device was initially leaked under the name Peloton Tiger and then it was renamed Peloton Focus.

Most recently, a Peloton yoga class was accidentally uploaded where the instructor mentioned the Peloton Guide as a way to help you monitor your form.

During the pre-class warm-up, yoga instructor Kirra Michel said,

If you have Peloton Guide at home, feel free to watch yourself on screen for those specific postures to make sure you’re in roughly correct right alignment.

The technology being used in the Peloton Guide also comes from another acquisition. Earlier this yea,r Peloton acquired Otari – a company that was working on a yoga mat that included a 3D camera attachment that would allow you to analyze and monitor your form. According to price surveys sent out by Peloton, it appears to be testing out a price of $599 for the Guide, so I would suspect the price will be within one hundred dollars of that.

In terms of a release date, I would expect the Guide to be coming very soon. I do not see why Peloton would start filming on-demand classes mentioning the Peloton Guide if it was not close to release.

Peloton Platform

Lastly, the device I am most excited about is the Peloton Platform. This device looks like it uses magnetic resistance to enable cable weight training with a variety of attachments. It seems very similar to the Tonal, with the main difference being that the Peloton Platform goes on the ground instead of the wall. This makes a lot of sense, considering it is probably easier to create a structural load if you are pulling something from the ground rather than from the wall.

Since it is on the ground, the only issue would be needing a screen. Because it is very likely going to work alongside the Peloton Guide, you could use this device with any screen as long as you had the 3D camera mounted.

The pricing survey by Peloton suggests that this will cost around $3,000, which only makes sense if it is as functional and useful as Tonal. In terms of a release date for the Platform, that is anybody’s guess. In my opinion, I do not think it will be released this year. I suspect Peloton will release the Platform sometime during 2022.

It will be interesting to see if Peloton ends up releasing any of these products this year or if it waits until next. We will be keeping a close eye and will be posting any new product updates as they come.
