Beachbody launches its live interactive BODi program today

No strangers to the at-home workout game, The Beachbody Company is today launching its much-hyped live interactive premium subscription tier BODi (Beachbody on Demand Interactive).

The latest offering is a supplemental program to Beachbody’s comprehensive BOD library. The BODi (pronounced as you might guess as “body”) provides live “virtual” group fitness classes and their replays. Fans of the brand can expect to see famous trainers Autumn Calabrese, Amoila Cesar, Megan Davies, Joel Freeman, Jennifer Jacobs, Elise Joan, Jericho McMatthews, Ilana Muhlstein, Idalis Velazquez, and Shaun T as part of the regular roster. Classes include cardio, HIIT, strength training, Pilates, yoga, barre, nutrition, and of course classes utilizing the brand’s connected MYX bike. (No treadmill classes, however.)

One added feature that especially stands out is that BODi members can enhance the feeling of a live class by joining in a “BODcast,” which uses the camera on your phone or computer to broadcast your workout to the screen with other participants. So much for sitting out that last set of crunches.

Also, Beachbody is partnering with Feed.fm, a music platform for digital fitness companies, to offer popular hits from original artists, rather than instrumental tracks. In addition to using the instructor’s curated playlist, you can select a genre of music to your liking and get a playlist of tunes that matches the beats per minute of the class you’re taking.

Beachbody cofounder and CEO Carl Daikeler says:

At-home fitness is here to stay, but with so many options on the market people are looking for more than just a talking head to tell them what to do while they stand in their living room, and BODi delivers an experience beyond anything offered across the streaming fitness landscape today. When we decided to create a premium, live connected fitness offering of our own, we knew it needed to stand out from the crowd and bring users something unlike anything else they had ever seen or experienced.

BODi is available for $19.95 per month as a premium subscription on top of the $99 annual BOD membership – rounding that out to $28.20 per month. BODi will offer day passes for $7 that give users access to all of the platform’s classes for 24 hours.
