Smart home gym manufacturer Tempo has announced its inaugural Tempo Games — a challenge for members to complete a series of classes led by athletes headed to Tokyo for the 2021 Summer Olympics. Those who complete the event might even win themselves a prize of their own.
Tempo currently offers a lone product, a freestanding connected home gym that utilizes free weights. Due to its keen focus on strength training, Tempo’s workouts are personalized using a one-way, 3D sensor that offers feedback on your form in real-time.
The Tempo Games will feature seven partnerships with elite athletes representing the US and Brazil, who will be training alongside Tempo owners with the company’s current lineup of coaches. In a blog post from Tempo, the company explains how The Tempo Games will work:
In each of the classes, you’ll be put to the test with one of our athlete partners. Every workout is inspired by the training our US champion athletes do daily. The Tempo Games is a lot more than just a workout. It’s the opportunity to learn from athletes who have conditioned themselves for the world stage and to prove that, whether you’re a star athlete or an everyday athlete, there is an inner strength in all of us. Tempo members don’t just train like champions—you train with them.
Meet the athletes
Here are the seven athlete partners participating in The Tempo Games, as well as the Summer Olympics in Tokyo this July.
- Carlin Isles: Champion track and field athlete and “the world’s fastest rugby player.”
- Jessica Long: An Olympic swimmer with over 50 medals who made her international debut in Athens all the way back in 2004.
- Johnny Hooper: A four-time All-American water polo player.
- Kyra Condie: A Bouldering World Cup finalist and a regular in the pro climbing competitions around the US.
- Letícia Bufoni: A multi-X Games gold medalist among the first-ever to compete in Olympic skateboarding in Tokyo. She will be representing Brazil.
- Paige McPherson: A 2012 Olympic bronze medalist for TaeKwonDo and the first U.S. female to compete in three Olympic Games.
- Will Claye: A three-time Olympic medalist, earning bronze in the long jump and silver in the triple jump. The first American since 1904 to medal in both events.
How to compete in The Tempo Games
If you’re looking to train side by side with the athletes above, you can begin immediately. The inaugural Games kicked off this week, beginning with eight classes led by Carlin Isles, Jessica Long, Johnny Hooper, and Will Claye.
More classes will continue to roll out on the Tempo Games section under the “Classes” tab. Tempo promises to share updates on new classes for the Games on its Instagram.
Members who complete all the Olympic-sized classes by July 12 will receive a limited edition Tempo Games shirt. So fire up your Tempo smart home gym and see if you can make the podium!
