Peloton has announced that employees will now have paid time off that they can use to peacefully protest, volunteer for political campaigns, and vote.
“Under our CTO[Civic Time Off] program, our team will be able to engage in civic endeavors including voting, volunteering for a candidate, participating in peaceful and lawful demonstrations, or any other time devoted to civic participation,” Peloton cofounder and CEO John Foley wrote on his Twitter page.
Foley also mentioned that Peloton employees have shared over the past year how important it is that they have time “to exercise their civic responsibilities & be active members of their communities.” Other companies have been implementing similar policies since the death of George Floyd in 2020.
According to Workplace Fairness, 25 out of 50 states now require companies to give employees at least one hour of work off on Election Day in the US.
