Following its development in cardiovascular health, Oura now seems to be pursuing metabolic health with the acquisition of CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) platform Veri. This announcement comes ahead of the widely anticipated launch of the Oura Ring 4 (according to a recent FCC filing).
Veri is a CGM platform that tracks users blood sugar levels, and provides insight and guidance on how certain foods and behaviors are affecting your health.
Oura CEO Tom Hale, sees value in integrating products, like a CGM, with its ring:
“Today, Oura Ring is a standalone product, but we see a world where the product experience includes other health data inputs and sensors, such as CGMs, factoring into the data and insights presented within the Oura App.”
In addition to integrating a CGM, Oura will also be adding a Meals feature to Oura Labs, allowing members to track the food and see how their choices affect metrics like sleep and stress.
This is not the first time a smart ring will be integrating with CGMs. Oura competitor, Ultrahuman, has previously integrated its CGM with its smart ring, combining data from both devices to create a more complete picture of user’s health.
