Ultrahuman is adding a new feature to its smart ring this month: Stress Rhythm. Most measurements of stress use simple physiological data to measure stress throughout the day. However, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR’s latest feature seems to be taking things further by considering your stress within the context of your circadian rhythm.
Ultrahuman’s Stress Rhythm first measures variations in users’ Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability (HRV), and Resting Heart Rate. Then, it takes those measurements and considers them within the context of users’ circadian rhythm.
Circadian rhythm is a 24-hour cycle that is part of each persons’ internal clock, running in the background to signal essential functions and processes.
One of these functions (when working as intended), directs cortisol levels to peak in the morning and decline throughout the day. Put more simply, our body is better designed to handle higher levels of stress in the morning compared to at night.
So the Stress Rhythm measurement on Ultrahuman takes this into account, recognizing higher stress scores earlier in the day as part of a healthy rhythm.
A higher score means you are regulating stress well and are working within your circadian rhythm. A lower score indicates more unregulated stress and are potentially working against your circadian rhythm.
