A lot of the home gyms we have been critiquing, reviewing, and loving here at Connect the Watts have been in spaces much larger than the home gym we are looking at today. While setting up a home gym in a larger space has its challenges, being intentional with equipment and design choices in a smaller space for an at-home gym setup is equally challenging. Head below for more details.

Favorite features
My favorite thing about this space is easily the two mirrors which immediately draw your attention. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – having mirrors in an at-home gym space is crucial. Without a mirror (or mirrors) set up, you risk injuring yourself in some capacity because you are unable to check your form.
The other favorite piece of this particular gym setup I love is that it was clearly designed with two people in mind. There are two mirrors and two mats, allowing room for one more while exercising. While a lot of home gyms certainly have the space to hold multiple people comfortably while working out, I love the intentionality behind this smaller gym. Because it’s such a small room, making this space fit for one person would have been perhaps the obvious choice, as designing a gym setup for two people in a room this size may have presented more of a challenge.
Suggestions for improvement
Clearly this was a personal choice, but I am averse to wallpaper that has geometric or geometric-adjacent shapes. There’s something extremely millennial about it that harkens back to the angular, zigzagging white-on-gray pattern that took 30-something women by storm in the mid to late 2010s. The way I feel about this wallpaper is that I feel I’ve seen it a thousand times – on laptop sleeves, on coozies, on accent pillows, embedded into flower vases and so on, and I want nothing to do with it.

Connect the Watts’ Take
I am so impressed with how much a person can do exercise-wise in this smaller at-home gym setup. With the two mirrors, the Peloton Bike, the two mats, and plenty of storage, there is very little you couldn’t accomplish in this space.
