Hands-on with the WELLFIT Incline Walking Pad: A no-frills experience

WELLFIT, creator of various walking pads and treadmills, delivers a no-frills work-from-home experience with its folding incline walking pad. If you need something that’s easy to set up and you don’t care that it’s not the sleekest walking pad on the market, this is an ideal walking pad for you. Head below the fold to learn more.

First impression

At 45 pounds and measuring 4″ D x 21″ W x 49″ H, this compact walking pad is ideal for a smaller space – an office, a second bedroom, an apartment where you have to walk up multiple flights of stairs, and so on and so forth.

Included in the box along with the walking pad are directions, machine lubricant, a remote control, and the plug to get everything started. Right out of the gate, I really appreciated how easy it was to set up the WELLFIT Incline Walking Pad – you simply plug it into a wall, grab the remote, and you’re ready to get some steps in.

Figuring out how to adjust the incline took us a minute, but because there is such a little hardware attached to the walking pad, you sort of just have to mess with the keys and the legs until you reach your desired incline (if you want one at all). If you have adjusted the incline using the front legs of the walking pad, it’s important to make sure that both legs are locked in place – I stepped on the pad when we thought the incline was good to go, but it turned out that we didn’t connect the right leg correctly to the incline, causing the walking pad to immediately wobble.

Features

Not only was I impressed with the ease of the setup, but I like that the walking pad only has a few key features – I’m someone who suffers from the paradox of choice, so for me, less is always more.

The WELLFIT Incline Walking Pad has an adjustable incline from 0-5% if you’re looking to challenge yourself a bit more with your steps; to be clear here, there are only two height settings – 0% (flat) and 5% (not flat). The walking pad can hold up to 320 pounds and speeds up to 3.8 MPH, which for me, is a very fast walk or a very slow jog.

On the display screen itself from left to right, the walking pad highlights time walked, distance walked, and calories burned.

If you were so inclined, you could download the WELLFIT app for additional features and coaching, but for my purposes, I didn’t need the app, and I don’t think most people would use or want the app, either.

One week with the WELLFIT Incline Walking Pad

After nearly a week with the WELLFIT Incline Walking Pad, I can say that I’m happy with it; I think it’s a fair price for $200, and it gives you exactly what you’re looking for. That said, there are a few things I’d like to see improved in future versions of the walking pad.

First of all, there is a very identifiable stripe on the walking pad (pictured below) that also pops up in most customer images on Amazon – it appears to be a seam, and while it’s not a big deal, it isn’t aesthetically pleasing and feels like a problem WELLFIT could easily address in the future.

Additionally, when we took the walking pad out of the box, it was chipped in the bottom right corner (pictured below). Again, not a huge deal, but some extra padding or protection should be addressed in the future so that customers don’t have a brand-new piece of exercise equipment that’s already chipped. Lastly, the walking pad is a bit noisy – in a room with wooden floors a rug should be placed underneath it to soften some of the sound.

On the plus side, I like the speed adjustments available while on the WELLFIT Incline Walking Pad, the remote works perfectly, setting it up was a breeze, it fits under my standing desk, and it comes at an affordable price when compared to other similarly-sized walking pads.

Final thoughts

If you are looking for a compact walking pad for less than $200, the WELLFIT Incline Walking Pad is a solid choice. You will spend about 10 minutes from unboxing to using it, and it will fit underneath nearly all standup desks on the market today.
