Vitruvian Trainer+ adds new ‘Just Lift’ workout feature

The Vitruvian Trainer+ has added a new workout feature called “Just Lift.” The new mode allows Vitruvian Trainer+ members to jump quickly into a workout without first selecting a specific movement or class. Continue reading below to get the full scoop on how it works.

The “Just Lift” mode can be accessed on the Vitruvian Trainer+ app through the workout tab. Once selected, all you need to do is adjust the weight and press start.

This feature is a great way to quickly start a workout, though it does have some limitations. For one, it is only currently designed to be safely used with the handle accessories. While it is technically possible to use other accessories (I tested out the barbell), Vitruvian clearly warns you not to due to safety concerns.

Just Lift mode is also limited to Old School Mode. Other modes, like Eccentric Only and Pump, are not available here.

There is also no way for Vitruvian to track your lifts in this mode, so they won’t be used to adjust any records or future recommendations.

Finally, there is also a new Mirror option, allowing you to see yourself and your form while you lift.

Connect The Watts’ Take

I am very happy to see the Just Lift feature being added here. While Vitruvian has made a lot of improvements to its workout builder, I still often find myself selecting exercises one by one. This is pretty easy as is, but the Just Lift mode will definitely be nice to use when:

  • I am in a hurry
  • I want to superset two movements together
  • I want to use a movement variation that is not on Vitruvian

The Mirror option is also a great addition, as it can be useful to see your form while you lift. I actually hope Vitruvian brings this Mirror ability to the regular exercises, as I prefer this over the video demonstrations.

In terms of the limitations, I am not sure exactly why the other accessories or modes are considered unsafe here. I would love to be able to pump out some movements with the barbell here. You still need to do three reps before every exercise to set the range of motion, so I’m curious how this is different than regular movement selection.

At the same time, I appreciate that Vitruvian focuses so much on safety. It is the only strength device I have ever seen that can make lifting as much as 440 lbs feel safe. I would rather the company be overly cautious at times than put its members at any sort of risk. So if this mode needs to be limited (at least for now while it is new), I can understand why.
