Peloton has announced newly available discount pricing for Peloton Digital memberships. The discount amounts vary but will be available to students, educators, first responders, teachers, military, and medical professionals.
The fitness behemoth has previously stated that it views the Peloton Digital Membership as a bit of a recruitment tool, allowing people to dip their toe into the connected fitness community pool without fully committing financially.
The strategy is to eventually convert these digital subscribers to full Peloton memberships, a turnover rate that has gone better than anticipated, according to Peloton. This isn’t the only recent marketing move by Peloton, either. Last week, it began offering $400 off refurbished Bikes to customers in certain zip codes.
The most recent update offers a substantial deal for access to Peloton Digital for a select group of customers.
Who qualifies for the Peloton Digital discount?
As pointed out by PeloBuddy, Peloton has listed the available discounts on its FAQ page outlining the following pricing. Students can now receive the Peloton Digital membership at a discount price of $6.99/month. Additionally, military, healthcare workers, teachers, and first responders can receive a discount price of $9.99/month. Normally, a Peloton Digital membership costs $12.99/month without a discount.
There are some pertinent details to whom qualifies, along with some points to note. Here is a more specific breakdown as to who can receive a Peloton Digital discount.
- Military: Active Duty, Reserve, Veteran, Retiree
- First Responders: EMT, EMS, Firefighter, Police/Law Enforcement
- Medical: Doctors, Nurses, Behavioral Health & Social Service, Chiropractor, Dental Provider, Dietary & Nutritional Service Provider, Emergency Medical Service Provider, Eye and Vision Services, Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Respiratory, Developmental, Rehabilitative and Restorative Service Providers, Speech, Language and Hearing Technologists & Technicians, Physician Assistants, Clerical and Administrative support
- Educators: K-12 Teachers, Professors
- Students: University/College
The fine print
To maintain this discount, Peloton has stated that you must prove your status in one of the categories above each year. Clearly, the company plans to keep this offer available to consumers for quite some time. Cha-ching!
If you currently have a Peloton Digital membership and realized you qualify for the discounted pricing, you’ll need to cancel your membership and sign up again.
It’s also important to note that these discounts apply to the Peloton Digital membership only, which is available through the app. If you own a Bike or Tread, you will be required to pay the full $39.99/month to access the necessary fitness content.
Furthermore, this offer currently applies to US residents only, although Peloton did issue the following statement on its Support page:
