Echelon Fitness sees 1,000% growth in 2020, expanding to new HQ, and expects new investor

The surge in demand for at-home fitness products didn’t just affect Peloton, Echelon Fitness also reported record earnings in 2020.

Echelon Fitness, based out of Chattanooga, TN, saw 2020 sales surge 1,000% compared to 2019. In the Chattanooga Times Free Press, it was noted that Echelon has strong relationships with large retailers.

Lentine said Echelon revenues have soared 1,000% this year over 2019. While he declined to give a dollar figure, he said the company has major relationships with “all the major retailers,” citing Walmart, Costo, Sam’s, and Dick’s.

Echelon is also moving to a new company headquarters in 2021. Echelon’s 70 employees, including a newly created president’s post Echelon is hiring for, will be housed in 25,000 square feet on the sixth and seventh floors of the Liberty Tower on Chestnut Street in downtown Chattanooga. Echelon has also agreed to lease 60,000 square feet of warehouse space near its new downtown headquarters.

“Sales have been through the roof,” the company CEO said, adding that he expects to soon see a new major investor in Echelon.

Unlike Peloton, Echelon is still a private company, so they are required to report detailed earnings. Echelon has grown to have around 110 employees in Chattanooga. Company-wide, it has more than 200 employees along with 160 at its call center.

Echelon is opening new studios in Germany, France, and Columbia in 2021, the company’s first international studios. It also leases 20,000 square feet in Orlando, where its app team is located, and it has a studio for class content creation.

Throughout 2020, Echelon launched two rowers and one treadmill and it has three more coming in 2021 alongside new bikes.

Echelon is often described as a ‘Peloton’-like product without the built-in screen, but you connect a tablet to the product over Bluetooth. Peloton does offer a range of products at multiple price points, including some that include a built-in screen. Like Peloton, it requires a monthly subscription to access its content.
