iFit adds Bluetooth headphone support on NordicTrack, ProForm, and Freemotion equipment

ICON, the company behind the popular iFit fitness service is adding Bluetooth headphone connectivity to its popular NordicTrack, ProForm, and Freemotion lineup.

All brands of Bluetooth headphones are compatible with this software update. Previously, the Bluetooth functionality was so that Bluetooth capable audio devices could send music to be listened to during a workout.

‘The option to connect via Bluetooth enables members to fully immerse themselves in the iFit workouts, eliminating outside distractions,’ Mark Watterson, President of iFit said. ‘More so, it allows members who share space with family or friends to be considerate of the noise levels in the room.’

How it works:

Connecting headphones to equipment is a four-step process:

  1. Select a workout from the iFit Library on the iFit-enabled equipment.
  2. Tap “Start workout.”
  3. Tap the “Connect to headphones” button on either the warm-up screen, the pause screen, next to the volume slider, or on the cool-down screen.
  4. Select the model of headphones from the on-screen list, making sure the headphones are in pairing mode.

The new software update has been pushed to all iFit-enabled machines if the machine is set to automatically update. For iFit members who opted into manual updates, they will need to manually update to get the new feature.
