Fitness recovery startup Impact Biosystems has officially debuted its flagship product called Pact, a two-part massage system that uses real-time muscle readiness data to expedite muscle
recovery. The Pact system is available for pre-order now before deliveries next year.
Impact Biosystems is a Boston-based fitness recovery startup run by MIT engineers to personalize the muscle recovery massage process using a person’s custom muscle profile and real-time data. That begins with the startup’s flagship product, Pact.
Inspired by professional trainers, the two-part Pact system delivers an adaptive muscle recovery massage based in its user’s body conditions. Impact Biosystems cofounder and CEO Bridget Hunter-Jones spoke about the hole in the market segment that Pact can fill:
Existing muscle recovery solutions are almost exclusively one-size-fits-all types of products. But, everyone and their recovery is different, so we designed the Pact system with the belief that recovery should be informed and personalized, using data from the body, effectively eliminating the guesswork.
The Pact muscle recovery massage system
In a press release this morning, Impact Biosystems officially launched its flagship product, Pact. The system consists of two core devices: Pact Sense and Pact Pulse. Each connect to a user’s smartphone via the Pact app to deliver a data-backed, custom recovery experience.
Contrary to the “one-size-fits-all” massage approach mentioned by Hunter-Jones above, Pact measures a person’s muscle conditions before performing any sort of treatment.
First, Pact Sense (smaller device) uses six sensors to capture over 5,000 measurements per scan, tracking your muscle readiness while measuring its mass and stiffness in real time. That data is sent to the Pact app, which immediately generates a warm-up or recovery massage routine for you.
From there, the Pact app communicates with the Pact Pulse (larger device) to deliver a personalized muscle recovery or warm-up massage.
The entire Pact system is now available for pre-order and is expected to arrive in Q2 2022. It will be sold in two separate kits at launch:
- Standard Pact Sport Kit – $499: 1 Pact Sense (scanner), 1 Pact Pulse (massager), 2 attachment heads, soft bag, wall adapter cable, and six months of premium Pact app content subscription
- Pact Pro Kit – $649: Comes with everything above, plus an additional battery handle, extra year of pro app content & analytics, and a travel case
If you pre-order, however, you can take advantage of discounted versions of these kits.
