Plunge, the company behind the popular lineup of cold plunges, has released a new upright tub named the Plunge Pod. This new design allows users to sit comfortably upright, rather than lie down on their backs.
The new Plunge Pod looks just as stylish and sleek as the regular Plunge, but with a more upright design allowing users to sit during cold therapy. Available in both white and granite versions, the Plunge Pod is made from UV-resistant, high-grade polyethylene.
When ordering the Plunge Pod, you also have several options regarding the included chiller:
- Plunge Pod, No Chiller – $1,990 USD
- Plunge Pod, Standard Chiller – $4,490 USD
- Plunge Pod, Pro Chiller – $5,990 USD
Be aware, that if you order the Plunge Pod with no chiller, you will need to provide your own ice to cool down the water for each use. The Standard Chiller is a 1/2 HP and is capable of dropping the temperature down to 39°F (4°C). The more premium Pro Chiller is 1HP and capable of dropping the temperature down to 37°F/3°C much more quickly (and more quietly),
Plunge Pod vs Ice Barrel
I recently wrote an article comparing Plunge and Ice Barrel, which is another popular cold plunge option. One of the benefits I mentioned about Ice Barrel is that I prefer the comfort of sitting in its upright design over the Plunge in which you need to lie down. With the introduction of the Plunge Pod, that obviously changes things.
However, Plunge still has the benefit of having a more powerful chiller (1 and 1.5 HP compared to the Ice barrel’s .5 HP). Here is a break down of each:
