Garmin leaks upcoming Fenix 8 MicroLED and Fenix 8 Pro

The Garmin Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Solar sports watches have only been out for a few weeks, but there already seem to be leaks hinting at three additional versions still in development: the Fenix 8 Pro 47mm, Fenix 8 Pro 51mm, and Fenix 8 MicroLED.

Multiple screenshots from several sources, shared on Reddit, show that the Fenix 8 Pro 47mm, Fenix 8 Pro 51mm, and Fenix 8 MicroLED were available as options within the “Add Device” section of the Garmin Connect app (they have since been removed).

That there is an upcoming Pro version of the Fenix 8 is not much of a surprise, as Garmin released a Pro version of the previous Fenix 7 one year after its release. However, the possibility of a MicroLED version is not something many saw coming.

MicroLED is a screen technology that enables a brighter, more energy efficient display than AMOLED. Apple previously was reported to be making a watch with this display (they use MicroLED on the Apple Vision Pro), but canceled the project when it could not get suppliers to make the next-gen displays at an economical cost.

The standard Garmin Fenix 8 currently costs between $999 and $1,199 USD (depending on size). Using the pricing of the Garmin Fenix 7 and 7 Pro as a guide, a Garmin Fenix 8 Pro would raise the cost an additional $150. We don’t have any relevant comparisons to help guess how much a MicroLED version will cost, but it certainly won’t be cheap.
