Plunge announces All-In Gen 2: faster cooling, quieter operation, and smarter controls

Plunge has just launched the All-In Gen 2, an upgraded version of its all-in-one cold plunge. The first All-In was already one of the more convenient, “plug-and-plunge” setups out there. No external chiller, no plumbing – just fill it up and plug it in. This new model looks to refine everything that came before it, especially when it comes to cooling speed, energy efficiency, and app integration.

Plunge says the Gen 2 now cools water 31% faster while using 50% less energy thanks to a redesigned chiller and upgraded heat exchanger. If those numbers hold up, that’s a meaningful improvement, as cold plunges have a fairly significant energy cost (previous models cost me around $50 in additional monthly electric bills).

There’s also a “smarter” element behind the hardware: a new electronic expansion valve and ten integrated sensors constantly monitor things like temperature and pressure to fine-tune performance in real time. In theory, that means steadier temps and faster recovery after each use.

The first All-In already had built-in ozone sanitation and a filtration system, but Gen 2 doubles down. It now pushes twice the circulation and filtration, reportedly cycling through the full water volume about every 15 minutes. That’s a big step forward for anyone who doesn’t want to drain and refill as often.

One of the most significant updates is actually software. The Plunge App isn’t new, but Gen 2 makes it more central to the experience. The app now lets you control temperature remotely, schedule on/off times, and track your sessions (things like frequency, duration, and temperature trends over time). For commercial setups, there’s also Plunge Connect, a business dashboard that lets gyms or recovery studios manage multiple units at once.

It’s worth noting that over-the-air firmware updates are now supported via a stronger Wi-Fi antenna, so the Gen 2 Plunge can roll out future software improvements automatically.

Connect The Watts’ take

This looks less about reinventing the cold plunge and more about polishing the experience. Faster cooling, quieter operation, and better energy use are all practical, not flashy. The improved filtration and app automation are exactly the kinds of things long-term users have been asking for.

At $8,490, it’s still a premium machine, but one that feels more self-sufficient and less maintenance-heavy than before. The included bundle (Plunge Basin, Neck Pillow, and Starter Kit) and 0% financing help a little, but for most people, this is a serious investment in recovery rather than a casual experiment.

The first All-In was a major leap toward making cold plunging plug-and-play. The Gen 2 seems to be more about refinement, addressing everyday pain points rather than redefining the category.

If the new cooling speed and energy claims hold up, it’ll be one of the more efficient home units available. And if the app stays reliable and the filtration really keeps water crystal clear with minimal maintenance, Plunge might have just set a new standard for the category.
