Hydrow announces new Arc Rower

Hydrow has just announced the Hydrow Arc Rower, a new flagship machine that’s built not only for performance, but also for the next generation of intelligent, data-driven training. With upgraded hardware, a bigger screen, premium sound, and a new proprietary scoring system called HydroMetrics, the Arc is designed to give rowers more feedback, more personalization, and more ways to measure progress than ever before.

Hardware and design

At first glance, the Hydrow Arc looks familiar. It shares the same footprint as the Hydrow Origin (formerly Pro), but introduces several key upgrades. The most noticeable is the immersive 24-inch HD display, the largest screen Hydrow has put on a rower, paired with their most powerful speakers yet.
Under the hood, the Arc gets upgraded processing and memory to support AI-driven features and constant software advances. The frame is built from aluminum and steel, with a flat anthracite polymer body and high-quality polyester webbing for a smooth, quiet row.

HydroMetrics: turning effort into insight

The biggest change with the Arc is the launch of HydroMetrics, Hydrow’s new proprietary training system. Instead of only tracking strokes, distance, or pace, HydroMetrics breaks performance down into three categories:

Precision Score: How accurate your rowing stroke is compared to the ideal form
Power Score: A snapshot of explosive power, based on your seven best strokes
Endurance Score: A measure of sustained cardio capacity, built from your best five-minute effort

At the end of each workout, you’ll see a HydroMetrics Index (HMI), a composite score that combines all three. Alongside the numbers, Hydrow delivers tailored guidance to help improve form, maintain endurance, or boost power output.

The idea is simple. Rather than only rowing harder, athletes can now train smarter, with specific feedback on what aspect of their stroke or fitness needs attention.

Intelligent coaching and personalization

Hydrow is also leveraging advances in AI, trained with real workout data from Olympic rowers and elite athletes, to detect form errors and deliver corrections. Over time, the Arc’s system learns from your history, offering intelligent workout recommendations designed to keep progress moving forward.

This approach could be especially valuable for athletes training solo at home, where having a “coach’s eye” for technique has always been the missing piece.

Positioning and price

The Arc now sits at the top of Hydrow’s lineup:

Hydrow Arc ($2,295) – Premium hardware, HydroMetrics, AI-driven coaching, 24″ display
Hydrow Origin ($1,895) – The former Pro, now slightly cheaper, with a 22″ pivoting screen
Hydrow Wave ($1,995) – Compact and colorful, with a smaller 16″ display, ideal for tight spaces

At $2,295, the Arc commands a premium, but it also represents Hydrow’s most advanced vision of connected rowing to date.

Why it matters

For years, Hydrow has led the connected rowing market by emphasizing the immersive “on-water” experience. With the Arc, they’re pushing beyond immersion into feedback and progression. Metrics like Precision and Power may sound technical, but they could be game-changers for anyone who cares about efficiency, avoiding injury, or measuring long-term improvement.

As Hydrow’s CEO John Stellato put it, “The Hydrow Arc Rower introduces a smarter way to build strength. We call it Fluid Strength, full-body training designed to meet members exactly where they are, with every movement challenging more than muscle.”
