This week Peloton ran their first test of a new class format named Bootcamp 50/50. Regular bootcamp classes have members going back and forth between cardio and strength exercises. Instead, these Bootcamp 50/50 classes spend the first half of the class on cardio and then the entire second half focusing on strength.
So far, there has only been one 30-minute Bootcamp 50/50 class (on the Peloton bike), taught by Tunde Oyeneyin and released on September 3. The class description for the class reads:
Clip in and join Tunde in this full-body workout that splits your bootcamp in half with high intensity intervals on the Bike and strength-building moves on the mat. This efficient and challenging bootcamp will take your confidence to the next level.
There is no word so far from Peloton whether this new class format will be expanded from the bike to the Tread, Row, or to longer 45-60 minute classes.
While it would be great to see the Bootcamp 50/50 expanded to the Tread and Row, it is the Bike bootcamps that benefit the most from the new format. One issue with taking Bike Bootcamps, is having to spend time changing shoes during every transition (it is not advised to lift in cycling shoes). With only one transition, Bootcamp 50/50 cycling classes minimize this issue.
